Banana Bread

Banana Bread Recipe:
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 lg eggs
  • 1 c. mashed ripe bananas (2 to 3 medium)
  • 1 tbs milk
  • 1/2 tsp. almond extract
  • 2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 c. chopped walnuts
 

  • In a bowl, cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in bananas, almond extract and milk. Combine the flour, baking soda and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well. Stir in nuts.

  • Pour into a greased 9-in. x 5-in. loaf pan. Bake at 325° for 65-70 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pan to a wire rack.
